Can you feel it? It's just around the corner - so that means it's time for me make my calls - or this year make a bit of a trek - to make sure that we are stocking up on our locally sourced cranberries for our lovely Cranberry-Hibiscus (Sorrel) Compote!
Cranberry-Sorrel is one of our favourite pairings and our compote is a Baccanalle original from nearly 10 years ago - it's a timeless classic. If you taste it you'll know why! Sorrel is the English common name in the Caribbean for Hibiscus Sabdariffa. It presents the natural bitterness and tartness of the plant - so very similar in flavour profile to cranberry. Sorrel - the drink - is a Caribbean heritage drink made from the flower sepals and infused with aromatic spices. It's one of our specialties! Our compote brings these flavours together complimented with hints of ginger, orange and sweetened with brown sugar.
We love this compote for its flavour and versatility - it pairs well with sweet and savoury items, baked goods, meat, poultry and cheeses. Add this one to your brunch table and or your next charcuterie presentation!
